Through my years on Council, I have learned a lot, sometimes the hard way. With the prospect of several new faces around the table Gravenhurst needs a Mayor who has grown into the role, who has experience at the Ward and District level. A Mayor who has put in the work and can focus on continuing the incredible progress Gravenhurst has seen. A Mayor who has navigated through challenging times, with kindness, honesty and gritty optimism.

As a two term Ward 1 Councillor I was able to establish a strong grasp of the Town policies and procedures. How the Council, Staff relationship works, how to bring forward initiatives and how to weigh difficult decisions that impact peoples lives. A firm understanding of the municipal budget process and how the Town operates allowed me the capacity to expand my commitment to public service and seek a District Councillor position.

In 2018 I was elected as a Gravenhurst District Councillor, which was a whole new world. Solid Waste, Water and Sewer, Community services are just a few of the vast services provided, it is an overload of information. By year two, I felt like I had my feet planted squarely on the ground.

When elected as Mayor in 2022, I was well equipped with previous experience. I could focus on my role as Head of Council, running efficient meetings, representing the Town at Official Functions and advocacy. I could build relationships with community partners including but not limited to members of the Muskoka Indigenous Leadership Table and the OPP detachment board. I like to describe the  job as Head Customer Service provider, always seeking feedback whether I’m at the Office or at the grocery store, my favorite part of the job is talking to residents and visitors.

We have been through so much together, you can continue to trust me, please know I only have the very best intentions for all residents both seasonal and full time. With every decision I will continue to be thoughtful, I am wholly focused on the job ahead. It is my great pleasure to get to know so many of you and have the privilege to serve, thank you for every vote that has been cast.

These are exciting times in Gravenhurst, with the Gravenhurst Health Hub and several major commercial and residential developments and municipal projects underway now is not the time to slow down, let’s keep moving forward, together.
